"Joly’s maundering passive-aggressiveness and unintelligibility in the matter' - nicely describes the government's approach to antisemitism.
Equally appalling is Trudeau's nonchalant approach to the arson and vandalism of over 100 Christian (mostly Catholic) churches - without any real condemnation or serious attempts to prosecute and end the destruction.
The Liberal government and their backers have been particularly egregious in their lack of interest in these hate crimes of religion and it makes a complete mockery of their anti-hate and human rights tribunals that seem to have their own agendas of who to prosecute and who to ignore.
Happy Thanksgiving Terry! Continue fighting for decency and justice.
Happy Thanksgiving. And many thanks fir your insightful, bold and well-researched articles on politics here and internationally. I am particularly grateful fir your columns on the failures of the Canadian government with respect to defending Israel and protecting the Jewish community in Canada.
I do hope as you mentioned in the article that the MSM stops referring to the rallies as “pro-palestinian” - and name them what they really are - hate filled events calling for the destruction of Israel and the death of all it’s citizens and Jewish people world wide. The only “pro” is death wishes
The world may well be going to hell in a handbasket, but I am thankful we have a brave soul like Terry to explain it , and he proves there are still good journalists out there.
"This was not just some fringe weirdness. Vancouver’s Stop The War Coalition represented the B.C. New Democratic Party, the B.C. Teachers' Federation, the Hospital Employees Union, the Vancouver Green party and the United Church of Canada. Either they all knew what was being said in their name, or they didn’t want to know and just looked away".
Ah, the famous wilful ignorance by the usual suspects...
My family although religious in a very small way, supported the United Church. I have been wanting to have a traditional Christian religion in my life again, but I just can't support the United Church.
Unfortunately, many denominations have been taken over by the social justice warriors (SJWs) whose entire focus seems to be the elements of progressive change instead of praise and worship.
Hopefully, this too shall pass. But, it will require a real effort to get back to the basics.

Hey Terry. Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving….im getting in just under the wire…:)
As for the rest of it….yes…many ingredients in a complex stew. Then again. Is it? I agree that no single element explains the vicious antisemitism in 🇨🇦. It’s the convergence of so many disparate forces and interests that I believe to be the cause. Many among Canada’s institutional “elites”….have long nurtured a healthy residual antisemitism. Exhibit A is the r department of Foreign Affairs. Or whatever it’s called these days. It’s not hidden. We It’s considered a virtue in the department. And this is well known in Ottawa. When u combine that…and the same thing in PCO…..with a government that heavily favours Islamist causes, openly, well…..the puzzle is complete. From there it’s a lot of intimidation. Tone from the top. Who is going to push back against a supremely confident PM who declares that the protests are peaceful and Charter protected? Very few. As we’ve seen. This failure is systemic. Government. Media. Law enforcement. But. Tone from the top. POGG. Basic. Everything has been turned on its head in 🇨🇦 by a venal, ignorant wannabe petty dictator. Who has been indulged by his staff, the wider Ottawa machine, media, everyone. Whole of government and now, whole of society must take back the country. Unless, of course, people prefer the current prevalence of Jew hating violence. Just hope that after a year Canadians are understanding that they are equally reviled by the “progressives” and Islamists. 🙏🇨🇦🌸❤️.
Yup. And among the main funders of those NGOs? Global affairs Canada. Heritage. There’s a trick. Over $3-m (amount has likely changed over the years) the Minister has to announce the grant. But if they do it in small chunks then the ‘crats have a free hand. And Justin licensed and encouraged them to throw money around.
When we understand that NGOs have access to pretty hefty government grants, I think this might explain the proliferation of so many disparate groups in Canada. Those grants support, pretty generously, activists who otherwise would have to get a real job. Hence Harsha (burn them all down Walla, the vile Kates with her equally vile spouse and lots of DEI people who really don't have a lot of people following them. Follow the money. The wide-open immigration policies with their awe inspiring incompetence and stupidity explain a lot too.
So James Clark was inspired to "work with Muslims to defeat imperialism". Wonder which imperialists he was talking about....the Chinese in the South China Sea? Iran in Lebanon? Iran in Yemen? Russia's plans for Ukraine? China in Africa? China's claims in the Arctic? Russia in Crimea?
Belated wishes for a happy Thanksgiving celebration Terry.
As for how Canada has got to where it is vis the normalization of antisemitism in the guise of Palestinian rights, much credit goes to academia and the CBC, which cannot seem to find any experts or opinionators to speak over its various platforms other than those who are known by their past statements and associations to be hostile towards Israel and silent on the toxicity of Iran's "Axis of Resistance". Listeners / viewers are never informed as such, so we'll hear from Osgoode Hall Law School's assistant professor of international humanitarian law, Heidi Matthews, on the subject of South Africa's application to the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide without knowing that Matthews was among those academics who cheered on the news of Hamas's October 7th atrocities. I would be extremely hard pressed to think of anyone not hostile to Israel's existence who gets air time on the CBC, except maybe Haaretz's Amir Tibon, who is selling his new book "The Gates of Gaza". Tibon was living with his family on Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7. They were rescued from the jaws of death by his retired general father and mother. On Matt Galloway's the Current, we here Tibon talking about the friendly relations that existed between Israelis living in the south and their Arab neighbours in Gaza into the 1990s and we hear a speech given by Moshe Dayan, many decades earlier, warning of the dangers of living in what is now called the Gaza envelope, but we hear nada about how hard Hamas worked to poison relationships and isolate Gazans from contact with Israelis under the threat of being deemed a collaborator, and thus subject to Yahya Sinwar's idea of justice. It's just been staggering. I really hope that Honest Reporting Canada or some other pro-Israel NGO has been keeping close score on the CBC's coverage of Iran's war against Israel via proxies, the way individuals and organizations in Britain are monitoring the BBC and filing complaints.
I too wish you a festive, food filled Thanksgiving, Terry. Eat heartily. Thank you for all the inside scoop on what is happening on so many issues. We don’t get this from MSM. I am very happy to support you. Cheers!

Thanks Kev. About those churches and the flag-lowering hysteria attending to all that:
It's often said, 'First they come for the Saturday people, then they come for the Sunday people.' In Canada, it happened the other way round.
Happy Thanksgiving. And many thanks fir your insightful, bold and well-researched articles on politics here and internationally. I am particularly grateful fir your columns on the failures of the Canadian government with respect to defending Israel and protecting the Jewish community in Canada.
Strong words by a strong man. We are thankful for your courage. Light destroys darkness. One ray/word at a time. Shalom.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Terry.

Thank you, Terry. Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner with your family. We are grateful for you and all your investigations and reporting. Take care.
It seems trite to say ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ but, well, I mean it sincerely.
Back at you. I get cheerier towards the end.
In view of recent union leaders’ statements about Israel/Hezbollah/Hamas, it would be helpful
to have a column on the CUPE and CUPW roles in founding and funding Israel Apartheid Week in Canada.
I've got notes on those early days. 2005 was a shameful year in Canada.
Thanks much! Happy Thanksgiving with your family!
Jesus murphy. What are we coming to.

Vivian, when will you please publish a story detailing this travesty? Sunlight being the best disinfectant and all.
Ps Geoffrey. If Canadians had a peek behind the curtain in Ottawa, they’d be horrified.
My cup runneth over……will get to it one of these days. Maybe a co production w the Magnificent Glavin.
