Meanwhile it is the people of Israel, Palistine, Syria, and Afaghanastan, along with our soldiers, who have paid the price for these horrific policies. Thank you for this piece Terry as it helps explain the many things I had questions about. Appeasement and apathy are the wests biggest issues and the cause of many problems in this world today. Basically the West has funded its own demise, or created it, due to bad policies and ignorance. Trudeau is also funding and appeasing these regimes and its what is causing the destruction of western democracies. Same with the situation with China. The west seems deluded that all countries want to be as they are, when in fact, they want us to be just like them. It appears they are winning and we have aided them in doing so, as well as ensuring they are well armed and dangerous to all.

A partial solution is simple, but it requires too much sacrifice from North American and European consumers and businesses: ban any and all trade with China.

Thanks Terry for your truth and insight. However, with respect to Obama, one must recognize that when he came to office, the Americans were tired of fighting in the middle east. That was one of the reasons he was elected. He said he would bring the troops home. To be fair, the Americans are tired of having to do all of the heavy lifting. Other western nations are not interested in putting their young men and women in harm's way. In Canada, as well as other some western nations, we have seen the disruptions caused by some members of the middle eastern diaspora. The Liberals have noticed, and IMHO, will attempt to talk out both sides of their mouth, in order to maintain votes. Never underestimate a politician.

It is one thing to return troops home - that was Trump’s inclination, too - but it is entirely another thing to assist the Khomeinist regime with untold billions of dollars.

Terry, your understanding of and your perspective on what is going on in the Middle East is so intricate and detailed that I have to read your column about five times and save it to my laptop before I am confident that I have all your information at hand -- and IN MY AGING BRAIN! Your stuff is both exhaustive and exhausting. But keep up the good work, you DYNAMO OF DEEP DIVE JOURNALISM!

As a subscriber and post reader. I can’t thank you enough and your coworkers as well. Reporting the story from research to truth. Just as Bob Woodward would insist. Your journalism is infecting our minds with truth. Interested as I am have lead to other articles of your recommendations and to books such as Robert Spencer. “The Palestinian Delusion”. Which I will purchase.

I also just finished reading my 2nd go around of BIBI. I recommend. God bless you

I suspect that there was no single factor contributing to the timing of the October 7th massacre. Along with scuttling progress with Saudi normalizing relations with Israel, there are at least the following: in Israel the demonstrations against Netanyahu's "judicial reform" and the 50th anniversary of the disastrous 1973 war, in Iran, the approaching anniversary of the murder of Mahsa Amini by Iranian "morality" police, and, noting that October 7th is Vlad Putin's birthday, the diversion of attention from his war on Ukraine.

Great article Terry, and your NP article as well. Thank you! I think there is more to be said about the recent billions being released to Iran and how little is being said about it. Is it “influence” (corruption) taking advantage of incompetence (or naïveté) or purely a power/money grab?

Great investigative journalism.

Very detailed work. It prompts me to do some digging into the situation in Yemen specifically with regards to the approaches by Saint Obama and the Devil Incarnate Trump. As it stands I don't think there has been a president I recent history more supportive of the state of Israel. I am also certain that our soft headed PM has a soft spot for Iran ( not to mention John Kerry's personal connection). Biden's recent freeing up of 10 billion for Iran is also quite a disheartening development in light of what has happened to our Israeli friends and I am basically floored to think anyone with decency could support it or him. Our world is in a bad state with current weak western leadership and I worry for us all.

No no no, there must be some mistake! Nobel Peace Prize laureate Barack Obama is universally recognized among correct-thinking people as the Bringer of Peace to the world.

(And you didn’t even mention the funnelling of untold billions of dollars into the Khomeinist treasury.)

Thanks Terry. We are on a driving trip and just arrived in Colorado Springs after 10 days in Texas (mostly in Austin). While we know about southern Christians, I was blown away by the number of private signs touting "God" and "Jesus Christ" not to mention the huge number of churches; Baptist, Methodist, Catholic (Hispanics in Austin) and more. Many "F#&k Biden" signs and pro- Trump signs. The future is bleak as I don't see the US getting its act together. As for we Canknuckle heads, 2025 may be too late to try and turn our ship around. Simply put, no one voted for Gerald Butts and Katie Telford to run Canada and if Poilievre is elected, no one will have voted for Jenni Byrne! She of the "barbaric practices" policy, which put the final nail in Harper's coffin.

Over and out.

What are you suggesting? That female genital mutilation and honour killings (or throwing acid in faces) are not barbaric practices? The problem wasn’t the message, it was Canadians’ moronically delicate sensibilities that were offended by it. Get a grip! Next you will be suggesting that beheading or cooking babies alive shouldn’t be described as barbaric. 🙄

The private billboards dotting the US landscape are as prevalent in the Midwest US as they are in the south. It reminds me of a comment that the (more religious) US should compare itself to the (more religious) Middle East rather than (more secular) Western Europe. The US is leaning towards becoming a theocracy in my opinion.

Very informative. Thanks Terry. ( but clear up many references to Malley as O' Malley.)
