No great mystery here. With a few rare exceptions, the legacy media's lack of curiosity is because they've been told or instinctively know these thugs are bulletproof because they have connections to important people inside government.

It used to be journalists were the public's watchdogs, devoting time and talent to dig into the dark places to maintain government accountability. The government realized they'd never be rid of these troublesome journalists so they co-opted them. They brought them into the inner circles of government as pals rather than press. (Hard to get tough when you want an invitation to the next soiree.) Then the coup de grace to legacy media integrity, government opened the money spigot to keep them on life support. Corporate media is dying because the public no longer trust them.

My financial support goes to outliers, journalists and start-up media with the courage to challenge the status quo and drag the smelly lies into the sunlight.

The Trickle Down Effect: A federal government that governs like a high school student council, complete with corridor melodramas dominating over real governance

I wholeheartedly believe that j-school graduates of the last 10-15 years believe that their mission in life is to further the revolution, not to hold politicians to account.

My jaw dropped reading this article. It's like someone said in the comments, "Don't they matter as much as other Canadians?". Didn't Trudeau say something about Canada being a post nationalist country? Perhaps this is part of the dynamics of being in a "global family?". I find myself wondering how low this government can go, especially without a media holding it to account.

I don’t believe we will ever treat Iran as the rogue nation that it is. I believe Sasha Trudeau has deeper ties to Iran than any PM should be comfortable with.

In the broader picture, we are also blind to the anti semitism deployed towards Jews and have been for a very long time dispite the fact that the vast majority of hate crimes are directed towards Jews in this country. After 9/11 there was a concerted effort to disclaim any violence committed by muslims, which ignores their absolute hatred of the west, and their constitutional devotion to wiping all of Isreal off the map.

All of this is tied together, but we have decided to ignore all of it. Our current leadership seems to have a very large blindspot with Iran, the Palestinians and the broader antisemitism that comes with it. Ergo, zero solutions.

You bring up a good point there with Sasha Trudeau (for reasons I'll have to write about later) but no, "muslims" are not possessed of an "absolute hatred of the west," or a "constitutional devotion to wiping all of Isreal off the map."

Several countries still have that in their constitution …

Many refuse to accept that Isreal has a right to exist and have never recognized them formally.

Perhaps a distinction between Muslims and Islamists would be helpful...

When your only mission in life is to become re-elected and remain in power all you have to do is control or at least hobble the TV media with money (as Andersm0 put it "bring to the inner circle") and you control your message. All these other nasty things can be ignored and/or denied whenever challenged. A shocking number of Canadians just don't want to hear bad news unless it is something that our Dear Leader can soothe by telling us he "has our backs".

The Trudeau Government is another “riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma” ... not very flattering given the regime (Soviet) that Churchill concocted those words to describe. But, as each painful year goes by, there are an increasing number of similarities between the two. The conduct of the “state-controlled press” is certainly one of them.

“Riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma” sounds like a fancy way of saying “I don’t know how to stand up to this lot.”

Why do all these “progressives” seem ok with Iranian-Canadians, Chinese Canadians, and Canadian Jews being terrorized by foreign operatives in our country? Do they not matter as much as other Canadians? Seems to me they deserve to be safe as much as everybody else.

Products of our Times

More general thoughts: 1967, the hippies Summer of Love, was just 22 years after the end of World War II.

It was all benevolently tolerated by the war veterans still just in early middle age but still familar with the bottom line when it came to keeping law and order and ensuring safety from genocidal monsters.

Now: The twenty-year olds of 67 are 75 years of age, reminiscing about vinyl.

Now: The 50 year-olds of 2022 are born in 1971-72.

The 50 year-old of 1967 was born in 1917, the same year John F. Kennedy was born.

Camelot today is no longer JFK. Instead, in Canada, it is the Christmas baby of December 25, 1971, born to our own sullen anti-hero Prime Minister, who, on D-Day, was sitting in class at JFK's Harvard alma mater, while JFK himself was 'serving overseas'

You’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg and the government doesn’t care about doing the right thing. They only action political gain items like handgun bans. Eventually the Americans or the Brits will take care of it incognito….

I can give you 600,000,000 reason$ why the legacy media isn't reporting on any of this disgraceful behaviour that is being allowed, encouraged and frequently financed, by this government. More concerning though, what other topics, of great concern to the public, are they also controlling the narrative over? Perhaps a deep dive into recent health statistics might be in order Terry. As I so often am, I find myself terrifically depressed by the inaction of our governments and our media. On the other hand, I suppose that there should be no surprise because if the governments are not acting and the media are financial dependent on the federal government ....

All in all, this is simply further proof that the concept that Canada was - please note past tense - a welcoming place for Jews, Iranians, etc. is not now accurate - if it ever was.

Thanks for your investigations, Terry. I feel overwhelmed by the twisted evil uncovered. These puzzles are beyond my capabilities, but I’m certain the stinking, sneaky, reptilian Trudeau family is involved up to their yellow eyeballs. I’d like to know just who the he// is really running (ruining) this country and what is the end game? In typical fashion, JT trotted out Sophie for the linked arm March photo op, as though that shows that he really means business. He is completely malevolent, and Freeland is no better.

Terry you answered your own question and did so knowingly. This G7 you speak of is definitely not run by grownups. Unserious seekers of limelight or weak sheep living the trough.
