I do not intend to criticize what you write or what I think you write. When it comes to some of what you write about from a position of so many years of study and investigation, I’m so far behind in knowledge and understanding, I would be a fool to even comment. The antisemitism and Jew-hate in Canada is more obvious and much more familiar to me. Thanks for writing whatever you write, Terry. You are a reliable source!

Agree! Terry, you enlighten and at the same time confuse me a bit.

You definitely are a reliable source.

Keep writing and I will keep learning….

I had the piece open almost all of last night at TFP, reading and rereading it, wandering away thinking about it, and then going back to it again. It's more than just an essay or a report, it's a significant event. It shines a bright light light on the politically mercenary moral relativism of Trudeau's "open to the world" Liberals, exposing them as the proverbial clown at the door after midnight.

The entire thing is devastating. They're not going to be able to claw their way out from under this one.

It's good that Americans, and the rest of the world -- and probably a significant number of Canadians who had no idea how bad it is -- can now see exactly what's happening to Jews across Canada, and to our country. It's completely unconscionable, and unacceptable, and has to be stopped.

Righteous work, Terry. Historic.

Truly a great article, Terry. The definitive one on this subject. And it was gratifying to see it in the Free Press. Canadian politicians only start to take negative commentary seriously when it appears in international publications. The Free Press is a fabulously successful venture, with close to a million subscribers. This has got to be a burr under the Libs' saddle in a way that it never would have been if published by the National Post - or the Globe or any Canadian medium. All honour to you once again.

The Liberals will soon become irrelevant, at least for a time. It is my fervent wish that Poilievre has the wisdom and fortitude to crush the entities that underpin and foment the cancerous anti-Semitism that afflicts this country. Nothing in recent memory has left me so sickened and heartbroken as the persecution my Jewish friends are reeling from. It matters deeply to everyone. Niemöller's warning remains particularly relevant.

From the long article: "[Jews] are living under a government that appears either blind to it, paralyzed by it, or indifferent to it. Law enforcement in Canada is not blind."

Actually, none of the above. The Trudeau government is cynically calculating how best to exploit the anti-Semitism for political gain.

Great story Terry, with informed observations and facts. Unfortunately the majority of the Corporate Media push the same narrative as do our failed Liberal Government and their partners in hate crime, the NDP. Just as with the Indiginous narrative and the colonial genocide in Canada, their Islamaphobia dictates, and now the Anti Palestinian narrative, the Progressive ideologues in the Liberal/NDP will put forward their Anti Discussion laws , so no one can ever question the untruths with out financial harm or imprisonment for hate crimes.

The mass church burnings were greeted with shrugs and it's "Understandable", to which only alternative media spoke of as an attack on Christian's. The Corporate Media in the majority repeated the progressive narratives that demonized Christian's on a daily bases. Just as they did with the Anti Vaxer's, and the Freedom Convoy, they are now doing to the Jewish population in Canada due to their "genocide" of the Palestinian population. They make all those they "deem" Colonialists, oppressors, or complicit in "genocidal" acts, the enemy to the rest of the population. It is done to divide, create hate, and harm those they deem the guilty party through the use of narratives, propoganda, and outright lies.

The fact Canadian's have joined in on these attacks or remained silent is why we are, and will continue to be, a failed Nation. Evil is done not just by those committing the act, but by those who stand by and do nothing.

My heart felt sadness and concern goes out to the entire Jewish population in Canada.

Does anyone remember Justin saying "you won't recognize Canada when I'm through with it"? The ONE thing he succeeded at.

It’s not entirely truthful to state that Canada is a “failed nation”.

Maybe in Syria, they say nice things, then consolidate their control of the country and then they will show their real intentions?

Remember the Taliban in Afghanistan at first said relatively nice things when they first took over the country.

It's the involvement of Turkey, long a key supporter of Hamas, which supports both HTS and another Sunni Arab faction that is no less worrisome than Syria as an Iranian client, and has been bombing the Syrian Kurds for years. You may recall that Erdogan threatened to involve Turkish forces in Gaza, but it seems he decided he had bigger and better fish to fry in Syria.

And now it is the alleged anti-Palestinian racism. Anthony Housefather is correct in saying that he was not convinced that Palestinians need special protection. I think the trouble with Liberal Lena Metlege Diab is that on some level she resents that people are quite rightly shocked at the horrible increase in Jew hate in Canada. A hatred that has shown many forms since

the atrocities committed by Hamas on Israeli civilians and other innocent people of other nationalities.

Diab cannot produce much evidence of it because it is not a thing in Canada.

People are free to have opinions on the whole Palestinian thing, the history, the fact that they have deliberately been kept as refugees for over 75 years, why Arab countries are not welcoming Palestinians as refugees into their countries and the whys of it. This is not racism.

Where is the movement calling for the obliteration of the Palestinian people? The calls for death to Palestinians?

She is deliberately blind to the actual situation for Canadian Jews and wants to pretend that there is any equivalence to the harassing, the violence, the threats, the boycotts that Canadian Jews are fearful of and experiencing to whatever criticism Palestinians may receive.

Truly, if this was going on, she knows it would be well reported, we would hear of the smallest thing. And there would have been accusations that Islamaphobia was occurring at a frightening level.

Shame on the Liberals and Diab for wanting to trivialize what the Jews in Canada are enduring.

I just finished reading "The Neighbour You Thought You Knew." It appears to single out Canada as very having become much more anti-semitic. It's not that I disagree, but it might be more valuable to add in the anti-semitic incidents in other countries in the world as a point of comparison. I don't know if this would change with a change to a Conservative government under Pierre Poilievre, however. One thing I will say is that Immigration needs to be a lot more careful about who they invite into the country as asylum seekers. At least our federal government has finally declared the organization "Samidoun" as terrorists.

When I was teaching at a Canadian university in the 1990s, I routinely butted heads with professors exhibiting this exact personality type, who were haunting the Wymyn's Studies Department. Instead of Zionism and Jews, it was Patriarchy and men who were the target of their psychopathology. They promoted the writings of the likes of Dworkin, Millet, and McKinnon in their courses, teaching that "All men are rapists!" and other vile idiocies. These radicals were mollycoddled and promoted for their brave challenge to the existing social order; I was shunned and denied opportunities for exposing their moral derangement. Anti-male bigotry is still the most acceptable kind.

Academia is the birthplace and ongoing incubator for this destructive ideology. We are now discovering that absurd theories have real world consequences. I do not see a positive path forward for Canada unless and until universities and K-12 education are purged of the zealots.

When I first read about the Syrian revolution with Turkey’s involvement my first thought was what about the Kurds? They are U.S. backed while considered terrorists by the Turks so something has to give. I suppose there are a few other tangents that we will soon hear about as well but this one seemed to be a major contention due to the importance of the two opposing factions.

Thank you for the excellent article on the various paths that have led to the in-your-face anti-Semitism we see in Canada today. Your pulling all the strings together has made it much easier to understand just how terrible the situation has become. If you are still based in B.C. (my payment goes to an address in Sooke), I urge you to enter the long Free Press piece in next year’s Webster Awards.

I know that you often invite your readers to bookmark your articles to see if your predictions will be accurate. While I hope that you are correct about HTS maintaining a moderate stance toward other religions and especially towards women, I think that time will prove you wrong.

Ahmed al-Sharaa Is but one voice in a pool (cesspool?) of voices who will have to depend upon the help of other factions to maintain control and it just seems like the radical voices are the loudest and most influential. If Sharaa has to choose between staying in power and subjugating women, I know where my money is going.

I'd like to take exception to the descriptive "Trudeau's Canada". Our Prime Minister does not "own" the country! As for Syria, I predict an Islamist government, judging by the insistence of a bearded rebel that a reporter cover her head.
