We need journalists who are willing to ask the tough questions and we need main stream news agencies to employ those journalists and publish their articles. Instead we have journalists who do not ask the questions and news agencies who do not publish or broadcast anything of substance.

Not publishing or providing an alternative viewpoint about certain topics is still a form of spreading misinformation because it allows it to spread.

Since his arrival on the political scene, Carney has been deceptive about many things, and outright lied on camera several times during the campaign. His "elbows-up" nonsense was all an act, plain to see for anyone having reasonable observation skills.

Carney is clearly more articulate and intelligent than Trudeau, and thankfully not as obsessed with selfies, socks and many other Trudeau oddities. But but his judgment so far in selecting candidates for important positions, doesn't appear to be any better.

His cabinet appointments of previously disgraced Trudeau picks are hard to ignore:

Lametti, a woke idiot, who destroyed Canadians' confidence in our "catch & release", and "anti-white, racist" justice system) with Bill C-5, is back from political retirement in Carney's cabinet;

Mendecino, an incompetent and proven pathological liar as demonstrated by his role in a) the Emergencies Act drama where he bald-face lied about police requesting the EA be invoked when they didn't; b) the Paul Bernardo medium-security transfer fiasco, which he falsely denied knowing about; c) the "gun control" file, where his actions resulted in the deliberate addition of a long list of common hunting rifles and shotguns, finding their way onto the "OIC banned handgun" list, drawing huge public controversy and an embarrassing walk-back by Trudeau, is now back in cabinet.

Both Lametti and Mendecino would certainly have been made aware of the many problems CSIS reported to the PMO, as would Bill Blair, and in my estimation, the entire cabinet. The fact that none of the Liberals acted on the CSIS reporting is a sign the entire lot were/are corrupt and up to something else besides governing.

The entire Trudeau cabinet were incompetent, corrupt, and in many cases, probably criminal. Carney's so far, doesn't appear to be concerned with any of that, when making his choices.

Any of the above, are good reason to be concerned about Carney's judgment and motives. And there are certainly many other reasons that Canadians are soon to learn...

I wonder if Carney just doesn't care about his ministerial appointees and any optics because he doesn't intend to run the country that way. He's a CEO, CFO, whatever, an autocrat, used to running things all by himself.

That sounds about right. I haven't seen or heard anything about the PMO or Telford, just like we heard virtually nothing about Butts' involvement in the election prep. This is a little too deja vu for my liking.

Canada isn't even a "middle power" any longer. Putting politicians in positions that are far above their level of capability and/or that they are (should be) ineligible to hold because of conflicts of interest and other roadblocks seems to be the modus operandi of the government for the past decade. Carney is no different.

The Tamil Tigers are vile...that this guy was perhaps an activist member of this group is pretty troubling.

‘Canada has long been criticized by the U.S. - Democrats and Republicans - and by our Five Eyes partners, for national security shortcomings.’

Even in the 1960s and ‘70s, when my father was a British security official, according to him Canada was regarded as a bit player and the RCMP Security Service was simply excluded from the sharing of some highly classified information.

Ironically, though, the international intelligence community was envious of the Security Service’s virtual impenetrability; foreign agents had to join the RCMP - and there was no guarantee that they’d ever make it to the Security Service; they might spend their career on highway patrol in Manitoba!

Good opinion piece and well worth the read. My question is - how did this guy get his security clearance then???? Sing managed to get his even though he has been linked with Khalistan separatists and sat by while they spouted their "we are a superior culture and people and we can use any means necessary to achieve our goals' so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

Unfortunately we are being governed by, to quote Lord Byron, a bunch of "first-rate, second-raters". And, if we get the government we deserve, why did we get this one?????

Ottawa will only be stirred into upping their 'A' game when the three serious Five Eyes players decide it's time to either shed the two security laggards - Canada and New Zealand - from that vital intelligence sharing network or relegate them to the kid's table, limiting what they get to see.

Ottawa will probably get its dander up and respond with some cheesy publicity campaign - purely for domestic consumption, of course - reminiscent of the current sophmoric 'Elbows Up' and 'Canada Is Not For Sale' bravado seen earlier this year. Once the dust settles and they've played themselves out, though, only then will serious reforms take place...

There is nothing, at this moment anyway, more cringe inducing than "elbows up" and "Canada is not for sale." I had people I THOUGHT were intelligent actually tell me "economists confirm that Trump can take Canada over." What economists? I refuse to subscribe to "elbows up" or any of that fake nationalist nonsense. Where was the Canadian pride for our 150th celebrations? submerged under Trudeau's post-nationalist drivel, soon to be almost completely buried under the bullshit of burial hoaxes and "reconciliation"

Thank you Mr. Glavin for having the courage to bring this very serious issue to the public. I am disappointed that no member of the Liberal Party of Canada seems concerned, nor does the national broadcaster seem even interested. The fox is in charge of the henhouse and most of Canada seems unaware or unconcerned. Canada Day? Canada's day has passed.

Appointing Gary Anandasangaree as minister of public safety is like appointing an arsonist as the chief of the fire department.

One wonders what Canada’s allies must think about this appointment and what impact, if any, it will have on the sharing of intelligence with our five eyes colleagues.

Five Eyes dismissed Canada as a reliable intelligence-sharing partner years ago. CSIS, RCMP and our politicians just shrug. No pride or dignity. Meanwhile we're an open playground for international criminal organizations.

Keep up this type of reporting and sharing information. Keep asking the questions that need to be taken seriously by main stream media and politicians from all parties. Canadians, especially the under 40 crowd, need to speak up and stand up.

Thanks for speaking out.

Q: if Anandasangaree is barred from having oversight of the Tamil Tiger alive of the national security portfolio, then who WILL have that responsibility? The Deputy? The political appointees in the Minister’s office? Another Minister? Bureaucratic “glitches” and incompetence can explain a lot of choices, and so, they can be used to do so.. We all recall the utterly uncompelling answers given by Minister Blair and his Liberal political branch minions, at the Foreign Interference Inquiry, that the “dog ate my homework” re: the Michael Chan warrant - don’t we?

I see no evidence Carney has on his personal “to do list” several areas of concern for Canadian people. These include for me:

Dealing with public safety by controlling premature release of dangerous criminals. Downtown Vancouver is not safe for businesses or citizens.

Stopping immigration until those who overstayed their entry permit are found and sent back. Start people being welcomed when the government can offer housing, food security, employment, health care, language assistance, schools, cultural preparation for those who come from countries whose motto is not “Peace, Order, Good Government ”.
